Pilates for Children
With an increase of sedentary activities on the rise for todays children, it is important to keep them healthy and moving.  Pilates, being a low impact workout, is a safe option for keeping children active compared to a more demanding aerobic or cardiovascular form of exercise, which may not be particularly good for their still developing skeletal frames.  Pilates has many benefits for children including building a strong core, improving their posture and spinal alignment, creating a balanced musculature, guiding them to a more relaxed state of mind, and providing an outlet for stress and pressure.
Building a strong core is important for anybody, but especially for a child who is spending many hours a day sitting up in a chair at school.  When torso stability is absent, it may be difficult, or even painful, for a child to sit up or stand for an extended period of time.
A child having correct posture and a balanced musculature will help them to alleviate pain and prevent injury now, and as they continue to grow older.  Pilates can help establish correct principles of movement that children will use through their entire lives.
Pilates will not only help children to be active and achieve a strong body, but it is a great way to help them relax and let go of the stress and pressure they have from school and other demands.  Ultimately, children can benefit from Pilates in both their physical and mental wellness.
New Classes at Pilate-Da!
Enlightened Kids and Pilates Mat with Triad Ball

We have added two new classes to our schedule at Pilate-Da: Enlightened Kids and Pilates Mat with Triad Ball!

Enlightened Kids is a class for children which incorporates creative, fun, and low impact movement in a noncompetitive environment.  This class aims to relieve stress, provide a greater sense of wellbeing, and instill a life long knowledge of body awareness.

Pilates Mat with Triad Ball is a wonderful new class that we have added to our schedule which teaches the Pilates Mat exercises with the added benefits of the Triad Ball.  While the class stays true to the original format of Mat Pilates exercises, the Triad Ball makes the work more fun, is easier on the back, helps to stretch tight muscles, and has a more restorative feel.  This class is designed to improve muscle tone, build core strength and increase flexibility.   Our exciting new workout is ideal for beginners and anyone who wants to bring a fresh challenge to their existing Pilates routine!

Check out our schedule to sign up for these two new classes!
